South Africa

Introduction

They do not seem to use peanuts in many recipes and English is their main language. They have a staple diet of red meat and salads so managing a peanut allergy is no worse than it is back home (i.e. you need to keep an eye on sweet things as usual)

General Information

The temperature can be hot and an epipen should be kept below 25c. I carry my epipens in a cool bag (without an icepack) to try and keep the temperature down.
The country is large and you can be a long way from a hospital so make sure you are prepared to deal with the allergy yourself and if possible suss out where your nearest hospital is as you travel.
